Dr Tamara Griffiths is an American trained Board-Certified Dermatologist, and a senior Consultant at the Dermatology Centre, Salford Royal Hospital NHS Trust. She is immediate past President of the British Association of Dermatologists–both the first woman of colour and the first international medical graduate elected to this prestigious national role. She is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, a world-leading centre for dermatological research, where she founded the first-of-kind MSc in Skin Ageing and Aesthetic Medicine in 2014, now with over 200 graduates. She has an extensive NHS practice; in 2018 her team was awarded BMJ Dermatology Team of the Year, and she was recognised as Clinician of the Year by the BAD in 2021. Her specialist interests lie in medical education as inaugural Education VP of the BAD and past-Chair of the JRCPTB Dermatology SAC, and in standards and regulation of the UK non-surgical cosmetic sector–resulting in change to primary legislation as an amendment to the Health and Social Care Act in 2022. As President of the BAD (2024-2026) she led initiatives to drive forward positive and strategic change in healthcare, education and research policy, for the ultimate benefit of patients. In 2026 she was honoured by the American Academy of Dermatology with a prestigious Presidential Citation.
