Dr. Hussein Abdel Dayem got his M.D. in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases in the Ain Shams School of Medicine, Egypt in April 1980, he obtained his diploma of Educational Technology (DIP. Ed. Tech.) at the Dundee University, Scotland, U.K. in December 1980, he got a diploma of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases (DVD) at the Ain Shams School of Medicine, Egypt in April 1975 and he got his MB, Bch at the Ain Shams School of Medicine, Egypt in June 1972.

Dr. Abdel Daymen started his career as an Intern Ain Shams University Hospitals from 1972 – 1973, he later was a Resident of Dermatology and Venereology at the Ain Shams University Hospitals from 1973 – 1975, after being a resident Dr. Hussein became the Assistant Lecturer of Dermatology and Venereology in the Ain Shams School of Medicine from 1975 – 1980, he was later a Lecturer of Dermatology and Venereology at the Ain Shams School of Medicine from 1980 – 1985, Dr. Abdel Dayem was later appointed the Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at the Ain Shams School of Medicine from 1985 – 1990 and then during 1990 – 1993 he was the Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at the Ain Shams School of Medicine.

Dr. Khalid Alnaqbi graduated from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. He completed his post-graduate residency training at the University of Toronto in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and then undertook a fellowship at the Spondyloarthritis Program.

Dr. Alnaqbi established 3 specialized clinics in Al Ain hospital: Early Arthritis Clinic, Connective Tissue Disease Clinic and Spondyloarthritis Clinic in addition to the General Rheumatology Clinics.

He currently acts as a Consultant Rheumatologist, Head of Rheumatology and Immunology Department, Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UAE University, examiner for the Arab Board of Internal Medicine, and faculty member of the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency programs in Al Ain.

Khaled Alnuaimi

Humaid Al Wahshi, MD, FRCP

Senior Consultant Internist, Rheumatologist and Immunologist at the Royal Hospital, Muscat, Oman.

Humaid Al Wahshi obtained his medical degree from Sultan Qaboos University, in Oman in 1997. He achieved the MRCP UK certificate in 2004, completed his rheumatology training at the University of Toronto, Canada in 2008 and was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2011. He did his training in obstetric medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals, UK in 2014 and immunology at the Royal London Hospital in 2015.

Dr. Al Wahshi is also Senior Clinical Lecturer at the College of Medicine, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He is the President of the Oman Rheumatology Society and a member and fellow of many regional and international professional societies. Dr Al-Wahshi has authored several publications in rheumatology and immunology.

Dr. Al Wahshi established the first combined rheumatology/obstetric clinic in Oman in 2016 and is establishing a cohort for pregnant patients with rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Al Wahshi will talk about connective tissue diseases and systemic lupus erythematosus which are systemic diseases affecting a wide range of the population of different ethnicity.

Pierre Andre, MD

Dr. Pierre Andres Medical studies took place at Paris University of Créteil and Clermont-Ferrand (France), Laval University (Quebec-Canada) and at UCLA (USA). He was a past Clinical Professor in the department of skin surgery at the Henri Mondor Hospital in Créteil, France.

Dr. Andre is board certified in dermatology in 1982 and in internal medicine in 1984.

He is a membre in the Societé Francaise de dermatologie, a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), a member of the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID), also a member of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS), as well as the European Academy of Dermatology & Venereology (EADV). Dr. Ashraf Badawi has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine Cairo University, Egypt in 1992. In 1997, he obtained the MSc degree in Dermatology and Venereology followed by a Diploma in the Laser Applications in Biology and Medicine in 1998 from Cairo University too. In 2001, Dr. Badawi obtained a Diploma in General Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. In 2007, Dr. Badawi received a PhD degree in Laser Applications in Dermatology from the National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences, Cairo University, Egypt. In 2011, Dr. Badawi obtained a second PhD in Clinical Medical Sciences from Szeged University, Hungary.

During his career path, Dr. Badawi has actively participated in more than 200 International Dermatology conferences with lectures and workshops. Within the past 20 years He was directly involved in training of more than 2500 Dermatologists all over the world for Laser Applications in Dermatology.

Prof. Costanzo graduated university in 1994 from University of Rome, La Sapienza, Prof. Costanzo was a Post-Graduate student in the field of Molecular Medicine at the Andrea Cesalpino Foundation c/o University “La Sapienza” in the years 1994-1999 and he concentrated his post-graduate study on Research experience as visiting scientist which he did in National Institutes of Health (NIAMS) during the years 2000-2001. He got his degree in Internal Medicine from the University of Rome, La Sapienza during the year 1999 and his Specialty Degree in Dermatology at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2006.

Prof. Antonio was a University Researcher in Dermatology at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” from 2001 – 2012, he is the Associate Professor of Dermatology in Sapienza University of Rome from the year of 2012 till present time. Prof. Antonio is a full professor of Dermatology from 2016 in Università Humanitas- Milano, he is the Director of the Dermatology Unit in Humanitas Research Hospital- Milano since 2016 and the Director of the Skin Pathology Laboratory in Humanitas IRCCS- Milano since 2016.

Prof. Costanzo has taught in University of Rome “La Sapienza” and in Sapienza University of Rome. He was an invited speaker to many conferences. He has published many researches.

Dimitre Dimitrov

Dr. Dimitre Dimitrov graduated medical school from his native town Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. His specialty is in the field of Dermatology and Venereology which he obtained from the Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria.His early professional development placed him in charge of patients with sexually transmitted diseases, including those with HIV. During that time he was active in the medical community, participating in events, as an organiser and lecturer. Most of his lectures focused on education and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases among the younger portion of the population.Following his experience in Bulgaria, Dr. Dimitrov took a position in Libya where he worked in general dermatology. Later on he moved to the United Arab Emirates where he currently still works.

Dr. Dimitrov has worked and obtained experience in various fields during his career development. Some of the areas has interest and is experienced in are general dermatology, STD, dermatosurgery, phototherapy, lasers in dermatology and various invasive and non-invasive dermato-cosmetic procedures.
For the last few years his main interest has been the field of psychocutaneous medicine or psychodermatology. Dr. Dimitrov has developed his interest in psycho-dermatology by taking a Honorary position in the specialized Psychodermatology clinic in Royal London hospital led by Dr. Anthony Bewley – a world leading expert on the field of Psychodermatology.

Dr. Dimitre is a member of ESDaP (European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry), AAD (American Academy of Dermatology), EADV ( European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology), and frequently participates in local and international psycho-dermatological events. He has presented at several international dermatology conferences around the world, more notably in UAE, UK, USA.

Sara Edward, Dr, FRCPath, Dip Dermpath

Dr. Edward works in one of the largest Histopathology Departments in the UK and is a core member of the Skin cancer multidisciplinary teams and Sarcoma multidisciplinary team. Her area of interest also involves Inflammatory Dermatopathology which involves regular discussions with the dermatologists in the region and also nationally.

Dr. Edward is an educator at heart and has founded and organises two courses in Leeds. The Leeds Update is an international course and has been successfully conducted and is in its 8th year now. Dermatopathology for Dermatologists is aimed at Dermatologists and had its inauguration last year.

Dr. Edward is the co-author of Essential Dermatopathology and has contributed to Atlas of Indian Association of Dermatologists and Venerologists. She is the incoming Secretary of the British Society of Dermatopathology and is a member of Speciality Advisory Committee in Dermatopathology of the Royal College of Pathologists. She is a member of the court of examiners for Royal College of Pathologists in Histopathology and Dermatopathology and is a member of The Royal College of Physicians SCE in Dermatology Question writing Group.

Reem El Bahtimi, MD, FCAP

Dr. Reem El Bahtimi, is an American Board Certified pathologist in Dermatopathology, Clinical and Anatomic pathology. She has over 17 years, experience in the field of Dermatopathology. Dr. Reem is currently the Founder and Medical director of Dermpath Consult, a state of the art, full service laboratory dedicated to Dermatopathology. Dermpath Consult is a private standalone laboratory. It receives referrals and second opinions from within the UAE and gulf region.

Dr. Reem is also a Clinical Associate Staff, at Sunnybrook health science center, in Toronto.
Dr. Reem completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology, followed by a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Medical University of South Carolina, under the directorship of Dr. John Maize. Prior to Dermpath Consult, Dr. Reem was the Medical Director of National Reference Laboratory (NRL) and she was practicing as Consultant pathologist and director of Dermatopathology at the American Hospital Dubai from 2000 -2012.

He was one of the first users in the world for the application of laser capture micro dissection.
Dr. Mowafak is on the Canadian Board, Anatomic Pathology, Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

He did a Dermatopathology fellowship in the University of California San Francisco, USA. He is an attending pathologist in Eastern Health, St. John’s, Canada.

Dr. Mowafak is a reviewer of skin pathology at pathology outlines and has publications in different medical journals.

Dr. Walayat Hussain graduated from the University of Leicester Medical School and undertook his postgraduate training at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. He then specialised in Dermatology in Manchester where he developed his interest in skin cancer and dermatological surgery. Having completed an internationally accredited Fellowship at the Skin Cancer Institute, New Zealand, Dr. Hussain is internationally recognised as one of the UK’s leading authorities in skin cancer, dermatological surgery & Mohs micrographic surgery.

Dr Hussain is one of only a handful of surgeon’s in Europe who holds the prestigious accolade of being a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. In Leeds, he is Head of skin cancer & dermatologic surgery and Lead of the Specialist Skin Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team where he receives referrals from throughout the UK.

Dr. Hussain’s main clinical interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and his main research interests are in highlighting surgical techniques that provide patients with the best results. He is regularly invited to lecture throughout the world & continues to be one of the most widely published dermatological surgeons in the UK. As an official spokesperson for the British Association of Dermatologists, Dr. Hussain regularly features on national TV and radio. He is also current Secretary of the British Society for Dermatological Surgery, was Foundation Chair of its research sub-group and sits on its National Executive Committee.

Henry Francois Jordaan, MBCHB, MMED, MAKAD

Retired head of Division of Dermatology at Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa

Prof. H Francois Jordaan qualified as a medical doctor in 1972 (MBCHB/US) as a dermatologist in 1982 (MMED/US) and has followed an academic career since. He was associate professor, principal specialist and head of the Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Stellenbosch and Tgerberg Hospital South Africa from 2003-2013.

He is an honorary consultant at the Department of Anatomical Pathology at the same institution. Prof. Jordaan acts as dermatopathology consultant for private pathology practices in the Western Cape and as a clinical consultant for the Tygervalley Skin and Laser Centre. He was actively involved in the teaching of skin signs of HIV/AIDS in the Eastern Cape and to caregivers from other African countries.

He is member of the EXCO of the Dermatological Society of South Africa, an honorary member of the Indian Society of Dermatopathology and full member of the South African Academy for Science and Arts. He is also an honorary member of the Dermatological Surgical Society of South Africa. Prof. Jordaan regularly conducts clinicopathological seminars at other teaching centres in SA. He is involved in teaching of pregraduate and postgraduate students on a daily basis. He regularly invigilates in the part 1 and 2 examinations for registrars in dermatology. He published 54 manuscripts in peer review journals, numerous papers in non-peer review journals (eg Diseases of The Skin, SA Derm Review, JACI) and presented papers and posters at national (more than 40) and international congresses. His main interests are dermatopathology, skin signs of systemic disease, skin signs of HIV/AIDS, cutaneous tuberculosis and pediatric dermatology.

Prof. Jordaan retired in 2013 on reaching the age of 65. He was appointed on a sessional basis (2 X 4 hours per week) by the US and PAWC from 2014. Prof. Jordaan is still actively involved in all aspects of dermatology-teaching, service, administration, research and outreach. In August 2016, The Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Dermatology was awarded to Prof. Jordaan.

Prof. Cliff has been involved in research into the early diagnosis of pigmented and non-pigmented skin malignancies in collaboration with colleagues at both Queensland University and The Medical University of Vienna, Austria, being author and co-author of a number of papers in peer-review journals and co-author of a textbook on dermatoscopy.

Prof. Cliff has enjoyed engaging as a speaker on many occasions with colleagues in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Middle-East and the USA.

Anthony Rossi, MD

Plenary Session:Laser Therapy for Pigmented Lesion & Tattoo Laser Removal

Dr. Anthony is a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery / cutaneous oncology, laser and cosmetic dermatology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Beth Israel where I served as Chief Resident. Dr. Rossi has a specialized training and expertise in surgery, lasers, cosmetics, non-invasive methods of imaging skin.

His research interests are the use of non-invasive imaging and lasers for the management and treatment of nonmelanoma and melanoma skin cancers. He is also very interested in the use of cosmetic dermatology to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors. Dr. Rossi examined the quality of life impact that radiation induced breast telangiectasias may have on women treated for breast cancer and subsequently utilizing a laser to remove these.

Dr. Rossi also serves on numerous committees for the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the New York State Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics such as cutaneous oncology as well as treatment of scars and I actively participate in the education of residents, medical students, and fellows. Dr. Anthony is a peer review editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and on the editorial board of Cutis. He continues his passion to volunteer internationally providing dermatologic care in remote areas of Ghana, Botswana, Kenya, and Tanzania.
