Dr. Hampton is a Consultant Dermatologist at Newcastle Dermatology, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He specializes in Medical Dermatology and runs specialist clinics for complex psoriasis, blistering diseases and hidradenitis and joint clinics for oral Dermatology and psoriasis-psoriatic arthritis.

He is co-founder of the skin self-monitoring and image sharing platform MySkinSelfie (myskinselfie.org.uk). Following research and clinic-`based evaluation MySkinSelfie is in active use at Newcastle Hospitals for remote diagnosis and management of basal cell carcinoma, psoriasis, and acne. Dr. Hampton is the co-editor of the Handbook of Dermatology Treatment, a practical guide to systemic drugs, topical treatments, and procedures, aimed at Dermatology practitioners of all levels. He edits the neutrophilic dermatoses section in Rook’s Dermatology. He is the chair of the British Association of Dermatology rosacea guidelines and a member of the pemphigus guideline committee. Research interests include mobile phone tele-dermatology, hand eczema, psoriasis, and psoriatic liver disease.
