Short Description of the Lecture & Workshops:

  1. Marginal Gains in Dermatological Surgery – How Small Changes Can Lead to Large Benefits for Our Patients
Optimising outcomes for our patients remains the primary endeavour of all practitioners performing dermatological surgery. While the fundamental principles of excellent surgical design and execution cannot be compromised, smaller alterations and modifications in practice can lead to incremental benefits beyond the scope of any change that has been implemented. This concept of ‘marginal gains’ is well-established in elite sports but also applies to medical practice and in particular the surgical disciplines. This talk will provide practical, easy to follow tips and tricks which demonstrate the marginal gains that can be made during dermatological surgery which ultimately lead to better outcomes for our patients.
  2. Cosmetic Dermatology: Fundamental Principles in the Application of Neurotoxin and Fillers
Though the use of neurotoxin and filler is commonplace in the majority of dermatology practices worldwide, it is important to maintain a good working knowledge of anatomy, techniques and potential complications in order to provide the highest quality care. This workshop focuses on reviewing the basics and then introducing some potentially new and novel applications for both neurotoxin and filler, with patient demonstrations and the potential for hands-on practice.
  3. Scar Revision for Dermatologists
Scars post skin surgery are to be expected but what do you do if your patient is unhappy with the scar? This workshop aims to give you the knowledge and tools to be able to provide realistic information to your patient and potentially improve the scar. Both surgical and non-surgical techniques will be discussed, as well as an opportunity to practice suturing techniques that will aid in creating the most invisible scar possible.
