Short Description of the Lectures:
- What’s New in Treatment of Melasma
Melasma is rather recalcitrant to therapy but we need to be aware of the armamentarium of treatment. There is renewed interest in newer topicals both botanicals and non-botanicals for treatment of melasma. Oral agents in melasma and their evidence-based use will be discussed. Of all oral agents, tranexamic acid is found to be promising and has made a difference to the treatment of melasma. Newer chemical peels such as modified phenol peels, mandelic acid peels, pyruvic and lactic acid peels; lasers and combination therapies for melasma offer several options for this disease. Micro needling and platelet rich plasma are good new entrants in the therapy of melasma.
